ACCENT GRAVE

ACCENT GRAVE is a double exhibition by visual artists Brian Connolly and Alba Voorn.
Although their visual language seems to come from two different universes, they find common ground here.
The works bear traces of chaos and balance, a constant struggle that is softened by a pleasant dose of humour.
Alba is driven in her practice by the idea of 'embracing the intangible'. She mainly works in black and white, drawing with ink on paper, her work shows dualities we can all relate to. Inspired by contemporary dance as well as everyday life, she tries to capture experiences in an often minimalistic style. Brian works with acrylic and oil paint, flat brushes and putty knives. His parallel universe draws inspiration from fantasy, horror and intimate melancholy. The themes are diverse but all contain a dark side. There is a mystery in the scenes, things in the distance or just out of view, enticing the observer to look further.
